Gardening Jobs for November

Things that I have to do:

*Make certain that climbing roses are securely attached to their supports.

*Use small stakes or markers where you've planted bulbs or late-starting plants in the perennial garden to avoid disturbing them when you begin spring soil preparation.

*Apply protective mulches on the perennial garden after the ground has frozen an inch or two.

*Bring garden furniture under cover if you have not already done so.

*Destroy breeding places for pests and disease.

*Work a trowelful of bonemeal into the soil around your rosebush, then hill up more soil around the base.

*Prune grapevines.

*It’s never too late to apply lime to your lawn, as long as snow doesn’t stop you from pushing the spreader. The minerals in lime retain their value until the grass is ready to grow again.

*Give all trees and shrubs plenty of water before the ground freezes.

*Check trees around your house for weak branches that should be removed by you now, rather than by snow and ice later."

Gardening Jobs for October That I still have to do...

*Clean, oil, and store lawn mowers.

*Paint any garden structures that need it. (small deck)

*Clean up and burn diseased plants, spread manure, and plow the garden.

*Rake up the fallen leaves and use them as mulch for flowers and shrubs. Hardwood leaves such as oak and chestnut contain more plant food than those from softwood trees.

*To balance all the harvesting, do a little indoor planting, which will liven up the house later. Calla lilies and begonias can be planted now, and paperwhite narcissi can be started.

Grooming day

Our canine babies went to the groomer today  :)

Before

After

Mili, a black and white toy poodle-mix with strait hair, was my partner in crime in my teen years (most smart dog I ever met!  Never had a leash... )  I loved to brush her and how different she looked after a bath...  Then 10 years ago I got Kobe, which doesn't mater how much I brush him, back and forth, sideways, nothing changes.

Now we also have Lua, the most shedding dog in world... I've always been  fascinated by the Australian Shepherd breed and gave her to me as my 30th bday present.  I do brush my dogs weekly, but  her fur drives me nuts.  As much as she obviously looks better with long hair, my house work is way easier when it's short.

So there you go, my first cleaning tip:
Keep your dog hair short, or get one that's already that way!

Ready for Halloween.

Husband playdate

My husband has a playdate!!
He just told me his friend can only be here from 4:30pm to 7pm, they are going to play music in the garage...
(a little complain abou it - right at the time that my son wakes up from his nap and they were supposed to spend time together)  aurfff  is out...   Chad has a playdate!!

A morning with Dumbo

Halloween is this weekend, and yesterday at my son's little play class all the kids look adorable.  :)
It's such a cute holiday, to be honest I don't get it, why all the scary thing... and candy.  But I do love dressing up.
I stumble on this outfit @ a mom to mom sale, couldn't resist...
Little secret:  Dumbo was one of my nicknames as a kid, you know?!   I had my ears surgically "fix" by Dr. Ivo Pitanguy when I was 11.  Maybe I'll share that story one day, it's kinda of cool, he did for me as a present we just had to pay for the anesthesia.  The guy is the best!

Returning to my adorable Dumbo...

Was kind of a challenge to put it on...  It's very hard to negotiate with a toddler!
Many thanks to Go Diego Go and some pao de queijo (very yummy Brazilian bread) at the same time.

Such a cute group

Logan did not like the headpiece too much.  Darling anyway.

We stop at the Grandparents on the way home

A Foto do Momento.

Can you tell he's up to no good?

Date Night

Yes!!
It happened!
DH and I had a date :)
We went to see the Detroit Red Wings game.
I'm a big Soccer fan like most Brazilians but Hockey stole my heart, it's so exciting! And hard!  Got to give the players extra credit for being on skates...
I love Henrik Zetterberg!

He scored two goals and assisted on two others, showing off because he knew I was there ;)

The game was amazing!  5-4 victory over the Ducks with 12 seconds remaining to the end.  Overcoming deficits of 3-1 and 4-3!!

Me and my better half on a great date night.
BTW: My Zetterberg black jersey brought us good luck once again!

A Beautiful Fall Day

I did this for my Husband while he was out of town.
Just love the colors... wish the pretty of Fall would stay longer...

Starting a Blog.

Fall is here, there's almost no more work to do in the yard so I decided to try a blog...
My main focus will probably be my beloved son Logan, just like in real life  ;)  Marriage, house, pets, humor, books, music, life in a foreign country...  I'm Brazilian which used to think that California was cold in the winter.  Now I live in Michigan...  In addition to sharing my life here for my family and friends, it will be a great place to post some cool stuff I find in the net.

:)

Starting with something close to my heart (and my bedroom view for many years...) It's a new light show on the Statue of Christ the Redeemer, such an amazing end.

Um abraço apertado!
